Year 8 students have just returned from a fabulous french trip to the Château de la Baudonnière, France.
The students travelled overnight by ferry to France and got stuck into their first activity, tackling an assault course. Supper on the first night had a french theme, and included tasting of some favourite french delicacies including les escargots! Everyone made a great effort, with some of the girls donning moustaches and berets. A french quiz followed which included a series of questions about the french president, famous authors and facts they had learnt during the chateau tour that morning.
The second day started with a french breakfast of croissant and pain au chocolates, followed by bread making. Everyone managed to produce a loaf in a shape of their choosing, including intricate plaits, sports implements and animal shapes.
After a fantastic lunch of croques monsieur the pupils went to a beautiful local beach and spent time enjoying themselves in the sun. Games on the beach involved running around and throwing a frisbee followed by a trip to the nearby french hypermarché where the children were given the challenge of purchasing products which could not be bought in England. The evening finished with a talent show and a disco, which as you can imagine proved very popular.
The third day consisted of fencing, circus skills, archery, team building and aeroballe (trampolining mixed with ball skills) and ended with another fun dance-off.
The children all returned tired after the journey home but buzzing with all that they had achieved and the experience of living in a french chateau.
Mme Kerboul is already planning the next trip, so do please contact her for more details.
