The Head at All Hallows Prep School, based near Frome, showed what “leading from the front” really means, by taking the whole of Year 7 for a study skills session. Dr Richards, who is a chartered Educational Psychologist spoke to the pupils, in their penultimate year at the prep school, about the most effective way to revise, and get the most out of their revision. In order to prepare students for their Common Entrance exams next year, and to give them solid learning foundations, Dr Richards explained the principles of active learning, before delving into specific revision techniques such as mind maps, brain storming and flash cards.
Dr Trevor Richards explained “It’s so rewarding to spend time with the pupils at All Hallows – their young minds ask such pertinent questions that you can’t help but leave feeling invigorated. I especially enjoy working with our children to ensure that their brains are alert, and working in an active manner, as they begin to work in an increasingly independent manner.”
