What a fantastic term this has been in the boarding house. All of the children settled very quickly and the prevailing atmosphere has been supportive, fun and lively! The weekday boarders’ activity programme has meant the children have enjoyed a plethora of evening activities and clubs including: Horse riding, squash, debating, cricket, swimming and kayaking, cookery, improvisation, Pottermore Club and Streetwise Kids. Even then, they have not always been ready for bed (?!) – So the ‘catch all activities’ have made great use of our swimming pool, gymnasium and grounds. Of course, there’s been plenty of time for ‘relaxing’ with friends in St Bede’s with the children making great use of the table tennis and pool tables and the new Nintendo Wii (a great source of amusement as staff are sucked in to show off their dancing skills or ‘Mario Carting’ ability!) Sundays have been typically busy with outdoor activities such as bush craft and archery as well as visits to the Tank Museum at Bovington and shopping at Clarkes Village.
Thursday ‘whole house nights’ have been a fantastic chance for the children to really get to know each other and have some fun. We have had themed meals (a Mexican and an Italian Night), night hikes, competitions and large scale ‘wide games’. Our ‘closed’ weekends on the first and last weekends of term have also enabled us to all come together as a community.
Despite the rain, we actually managed to get the bonfire started and we enjoyed a great fireworks night. Mr Hannah and his team of eager pyromaniacs did a fantastic job with the display once again this year much to the delight of all present
