On Wednesday the U11 A team travelled down to Canford School for their annual Prep school festival. This is one of the highlights of the Year 6 rugby calendar and a day that the boys were very much looking forward to.

The weather was what can only be described as horrendous however, this didn’t stop the group from approaching their 4 group matches with huge amounts of determination and effort. Mr Morphet gave the group a couple of focus points for the day. These were, be aggressive in play, and be accurate.

After our four group matches against Port Regis, Embley Hall, Chafyn Grove and Castle Court, the boys were top of the table with 4 wins from 4. The highlight of the day so far being a come from behind victory against Embley Hall. The team were 3-0 down at half time but managed to conjure a magnificent 5-3 victory.

The winners of the opposite group were Sandroyd. The final was a back and forth affair which eventually finished 3-3.

Mr Morphet and I were extremely proud of the boys’ effort throughout the day. Despite the weather, the boys still tried to play some expansive rugby.

Well done to the following boys, Arlo, Cosmo, Jack, Zac, Sid, Tommy, Hector, Laszlo, Salvador, Barnaby, and Billy.

A special mention must also go to Marco who couldn’t play because of a broken wrist but supported the team with some video analysis and game reflections – You can watch some or Marco’s analysis by clicking here.
