Common entrance exams are a stressful time for everyone involved. Parents and guardians are worried about their children, and teachers are put under pressure to help guide pupils through the exam process.

During the common entrance exam period you will, no doubt, feel stressed about the exams. Try to take a deep breath and figure out the best way to help manage your emotions.

Remember that everything you are feeling is normal and to be expected. Use our blog on common entrance exam stress tips to help find a way for you to manage the stress.

Reduce CE exam stress by preparing

Stress is extremely difficult to process for many reasons. Help reduce the stress and trepidation by taking the time in advance to prepare.

This can be done by taking mock exams, revision time, and working with a tutor or teacher to help learn what is needed for the exam. Part of the preparation will be in making sure you plan out your schedule and make it work for you.

Being proactive in times of stress can help reduce it as you feel in control of the situation as opposed to being controlled by it.

Take regular breaks while studying

Taking a break might sound counterintuitive to what has just been stated but that isn’t the case. A fatigued brain isn’t as efficient or effective as one that has had rest and proper hydration and nutrition.

When preparing for your common entrance exam make sure you schedule breaks to give your brain the rest it needs. This helps you refocus your attention back on studying, which means you will retain more information.

Talk about your feelings with your parents or tutor

Dealing with stress, especially exam stress, is difficult for anyone. Make sure you talk to those you trust and who will understand you. A problem shared is a problem halved after all. And speaking with those who you know and trust will help you shed the weight of the stress, even for a little while.

During these talks your parents or tutor will help you. They can assist with any plans you may need help with, or they can be a listening ear. Sometimes that is all that is needed. But, talking about your feelings is key to helping you process them. Especially in times of stress.

Find what works best for you

One of the best ways to deal with CE exam stress is to find what works best for you. This can be from finding the best way to study, the best foods and drinks to have while you study, as well as ways to relax after studying.

The most powerful tool you can learn is figuring out what works best for you and using that. We are all different and that’s what makes this world a better place, use whatever it is that helps you learn and prepare for your exam while also helping you to relax during down time.

Work on critical thinking

Often in any exam it isn’t just about answering the questions, it is also about how the question is asked. Being able to interpret the question accurately is more difficult than the answer itself.

Work on this and practice reading the questions and thinking about what it is they actually want you to respond to.
